Riding Racing Youth Development, L.L.C. (RRYD) is privileged to announce that the 2020 (3rd Annual) Ryan Villopoto Amateur Motocross Cup (RV Cup) will be classified as an AMA “Featured” event. The RV Cup moved from SoCal in 2018 to Ryan Villopoto’s personal track in Washington at Grays Harbor ORV Park, just 15 miles west of Olympia in McCleary. The 2nd Annual RV Cup is set for August 15-18, 2019.
In 2019, the RV Cup is classified an American Motorcyclists Association Pro-Am offering expert amateur riders the opportunity to earn points toward their AMA pro classification. “We are excited to have the designation for our third year of the event,” said Tom Shields of RRYD. “The riders will be able to hold an AMA #1 plate high above their heads next year.
“For our part, the AMA is proud to have the Ryan Villopoto’s name associated with amateur racing,” said Alex Hunter of the AMA. “Everyone knows RV’s record of excellence and dedication. What Ryan is offering to amateur riders further bridges the gap for the next level of motocross. The prestige of the AMA #1 plate is something he understands completely.”
“To offer the riders of the Pacific Northwest and particularly my home state of Washington an amateur event is something I could only have a wish for when I was growing up,” said Ryan Villopoto. “Now we have an event that out-of-state riders can come to the Northwest. The better the event, the better our chances to have a champion from Washington. Track safety is my number one priority and we are grateful to the AMA for the endorsement.”
With 2019 pre-entries from Canada, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Colorado, down to Orange County, California, and of course Washington, local riders will have many more riders to compete with.
